I have listened to this several times Phil, it is really fantastic! I have to tell you that at first I was a bit skeptical that this piece would work on guitar. I think I was so used to hearing it played on the organ that I had a stereotyped view of how it should sound. But man, it really works well on guitar. Now quick question: what sources do you use to make a transcription like this? Do you check the original manuscript or do you work with a modern edition?

Thanks, Bob. I used the Bach-Gesellschaft Edition originally, and later checked it with the Neue Bach Ausgabe. There’s no autograph of the work. Apparently it’s an early work. I think it works well on the guitar. Strangely enough, many of Bach’s organ works transfer to guitar better than his regular keyboard works.

    Hi Philip,

I love your playing. This is a lovely arrangement. Do you have your fingering transcribed and is it available to the public?

  4. Philip Hii Says:

    Hi Ed,

Thanks. The transcription is published by GSP and has most of my fingerings. If you have any fingering questions in any particular spot please let me know. ATB.
